Our High Performance Computing Business Unit builds custom, high performance, power optimized computing machines, using FPGAs and custom ASICs, that save energy while performing the same task.
Our objective is to harness innovative engineering ideas and our technical capabilities to build large, scalable machines that can solve computationally intensive problems while consuming the lowest amount of energy possible.
We start with a problem statement, then we develop and optimize algorithms that are mapped into electronics hardware, which runs firmware and application software. Besides high performance and low power, we also have to ensure the system is autonomous, robust and reliable by designing in redundancies, self checks and self recovery. This is critical as such machines run for weeks and months and do not require an operator to intervene even if several nodes fail.
